A cornerstone of the Art of Living Course is Sudarshan Kriya, a powerful breathing technique that purifies and rejuvenates the body and mind. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has said: "There is a great secret in the breath. In the unique rhythms of Sudarshan Kriya you have a built-in ability to calm the mind, heal the body, and energize the whole system in minutes." Studies have shown that Sudarshan Kriya transforms one's emothional state and helps rid the body of the harmful effects of negative emotions.
The Art of Living Course is open to people of all ages and educational backgrounds. The Course does not conflict with any religion or spiritual practice - rather, it enhances both by allowing us to experience the inner core of our being. The Course is fun and relaxing. Anybody can do it. All of the techniques and processes you learn on the course can be practiced at home every day within a 20-30 minute time frame.
The Art of Living Course is usually taught over a six-day period, beginning Thursday and Friday evenings, Saturday and Sunday during the day, and continuing Monday and Tuesday evenings. The knowledge received is so natural that there is no need for further instruction, although a local teacher of the Art of Living is always available if there are any questions. Anyone who has done the Art of Living Course may also come to the weekly gatherings, called Satsang, where we practice the processes taught at the workshop as a group.
